It was exactly what I ordered and all of the nibs seem to be functional. I only have one problem with the pen and that is the weight of the metal section of it. I am not used to having that much weight on the business end of any pen. All I need to do is get used to that weight there. This is my problem and not anything major to do with the pen at all. It works and does what it should do. FYI, you need to carefully put all of the nibs into a raw potato for about 15 minutes to remove the slight layer of oil that is covering all of the nibs. This applies to any dip pen nib, just to let you know. I have no major issues or problems with this pen and would buy it again if I needed to.Addendum: If the handle breaks at any point, you don't need to but another one to replace it. All you need is a dowel rod that has been modified to fit where the original wood section went. This has not happened to me but I did notice that the wood part of the pen does come out from the back end of the brass and would make for easy repairs.The pen is a nice size and a good heavy weight, it has metal adornment, not plastic so you have a good feel in your hand. This is a great set to start learning the art of Caligraphy. There are so many different tips to choose from it will keep you busy for hours. Even without classes you can start experiementing and learn which tips work best for the type of writting you are working on. Make sure and get some link and a pen rest as this set does not come with either. Also make sure to clean each tip with alcohol before use as they are coated in an oil from the factory and will not hold ink as well until they are cleaned.If you think my review was helpful click the helpful button below!The item looks as good as in the photo and is nice and heavy. Don't know if it's my skill level that is more problematic or the construction of the nibs--most of them don't seem to work with any type of ink, and definitely seem cheaply made. I bought it for a 15 yr Olds Christmas present as she is very into scrap booking and crafts. She absolutely loved it.I love it.... I'm new to calligraphy and am just getting used to using it but it works nice.
