This pen wrote right out of the package. It takes standard international cartridges which can be refilled with any fountain pen ink using a syringe if you like. The body stores an extra cartridge if you flip it end to end. I’m using a Kaweco cartridge now and it writes well. I’ve only had it a short while so the clogging issues others wrote about have not been a problem so far. It comes with one black ink cartridge and one hollow fake one.
