These scissors were very inexpensive when I bought them to wrap Christmas gifts a couple of months ago. I actually bought two different pairs of cheap scissors because I lose them so often. This pair is straight and the blades are sharp. They are comfortable in my hand although I prefer curved handles a bit better. These can stand up to paper and cardboard but also cut through heavier weight things with ease. They're pretty sharp and haven't dulled yet. I did give them a workout cutting up many types of things but nothing extremely difficult. These would not be precise hair cutting scissors but they're fine household ones for everyday needs. I tossed them in my "junk drawer" with my other things I grab when needed for small household jobs and have been using them for whatever has come up. One thing I did notice is that they struggle a bit cutting through fabric. I was trying to cut through a old flannel shirt to make it into a cloth and I had a little trouble getting the scissors to cut evenly and with one pass. Otherwise, these S.P. Richards scissors are just fine for everyday household use.
