I have only had this pen for about a month. It works as intended and I am able to use my fountain pen inks in a more business friendly package. However, the barrel and the cap have developed hairline cracks that are going to, undoubtedly, continue to grow considering they are both in high stress areas on the pen. I could probably drop some super glue on it and extend its life, but that's really beside the point. I haven't overtightened the section into the barrel or done anything with it not intended. Just the strain of typical use has exposed weaknesses in the product.
